Exhibition Details
On Friday, January 25 the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Alice F. and Harris K. Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts presented two new exhibitions: Guardians Against Ignorance, a new series of paintings by Leslie Shiels inspired by the grotesques that adorn the top of Hughes High School; and On the Way to Morning, a dream-like series of elegant charcoal drawings by Lisa Jameson.
Lisa Jameson, a lifelong Cincinnati resident, has for nearly twenty years created exquisitely executed charcoal drawings that depict a personal journey through archetypal events and intuitive decisions.
On the Way to Morning will include a new series of twelve charcoal drawings that extends this exploration to the creative impact of choices made in one’s everyday life. Utilizing both figurative and landscape imagery lushly depicted in black and white, Jameson’s drawings evoke a dream-like state and provide a series of guideposts as we travel life’s journey.
Lisa Jameson received a master of fine arts in drawing in 1980 from the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning at the University of Cincinnati and later returned to complete a master of arts in art education in 1996. She has exhibited extensively in the region and currently serves as an assistant professor of art education at Northern Kentucky University.
