Exhibition Details
The Cincinnati Arts Association's Alice F. and Harris K. Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts debuts its 16th exhibition season with three new exhibitions linked by their investigations into abstraction: Limits and Boundaries: Sculpture by Jarrett Hawkins, Ascending Horizons: Paintings and Drawings by Cedric Michael Cox, and Binding Connections: Recent Drawings, Prints and Paintings by Roy Johnston.
Jarrett Hawkins's (Deer Park, Ohio) large-scale abstract sculptures reference architectonic and totemic forms and evoke the natural forces of wind and water as they elegantly transform geometric volumes in space. Limits and Boundaries will be featured in the Weston Art Gallery's street-level exhibition space where Hawkins will showcase a new series of uniquely fabricated large-scale abstract sculptures along with working drawings and smaller pedestal-based sculpture of bronze and aluminum.
Jarrett Hawkins is a sculptor living in Deer Park, Ohio. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, from 1967-72. Hawkins has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Cincinnati-area venues including Miller Gallery, Kennedy Heights Art Center, S.S. Nova, KZF Gallery, The Mockbee, and the Carnegie Arts Center. In addition, he has completed several public sculpture commissions in Hamilton, Deer Park, and Cincinnati, including a recent commission at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, completed this past summer. His work is represented in numerous private and public collections.
