Exhibition Details
The Cincinnati Arts Association and the Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts opens its 1999 – 2000 exhibition season with the presentation of: [re]collection, a mid-career survey of major sculpture projects by Malcolm Cochran of Columbus, OH, and Attract Year-Round Beauty, an exhibition of drawings, bookworks, and installation by Cincinnati artist Kate Kern. Both exhibitions open to the public on Saturday, September 18, and continue through Saturday, November 13, 1999.
Cincinnati artist Kate Kern combines mixed-media drawings, artist’s books, and installation to reflect her thoughts regarding the passage of time. Attract Year-Round Beauty will consist of eight large mixed-media drawings connected to a yearly journal she kept cataloging the passage of time, and twelve artist’s books that reference seasonal changes and correspond to the twelve months of the calendar year. A multimedia installation, From the Lost World of Women, layers dress forms, bookworks, and rotating projected images to complement the exhibition. The opening reception will feature the debut of Glove Index, an offset artist’s book published by Sara Ranchouse Publishing.
