Exhibition Details
Through his art practice Aaron Peters (Columbus, OH) leans into the possibilities that conditional and non-traditional locations can offer for site-integrated installations. The complex politics surrounding alternative, forgotten, or unused spaces and objects create frameworks to work with, through, and around. His site-specific installations incorporate hand-bent glass tubes that emanate light and color onto the walls, corners, and people in their vicinity, as well as cardboard screens gleaned from the process of plywood lamination. Both form their own atmospheres and permeable fields, dissolving the boundaries between space, surfaces, objects, and people. The relationships between art, design, and architecture guide and shape these built environments, creating a context for viewers to move through space with a slow curiosity.
