Event Details
Jersey Productions provides educational programs for students during the summer months. This provides students with an opportunity to gain performance experience in musical theater but more importantly, to gain a better appreciation for musical theater and hopefully become lifelong theater patrons. Located in downtown Cincinnati, we are central to all schools in the tri-state area and local to students who live and attend school in the city.
When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage, as well as many other characters who lead them into adventures!
The Wizard of Oz is produced by Camp Jersey Production! – a fun and engaging two-week summer camp where kids ages 7-18 flex their theater muscles and perform on stage at the Aronoff Center.
About Camp Jersey
Jersey Productions provides educational programs for students during the summer months. This provides students with an opportunity to gain performance experience in musical theater but more importantly, to gain a better appreciation for musical theater and hopefully become lifelong theater patrons. Located in downtown Cincinnati, we are central to all schools in the tri-state area and local to students who live and attend school in the city.
The Camp Jersey summer programs fall during a time when many children's theaters are not performing and the students do not have the demands of their schoolwork so they are able to focus on an educational experience in the performing arts. The primary objective of all our educational programs is to learn the three components of musical theater: singing, dancing and acting. It is important to the design of our Camp Jersey programs to create a safe space in which kids are encouraged both by their peers and their teachers to try every aspect of the musical theatre program. In this framework, students learn teamwork, physical coordination, and public speaking skills as well as earn confidence to perform in front of an audience of both friends (at camp) and the public (at showcase).
