Patsy Meyer Music Adventures
Patsy Meyer is currently an “Artist on Tour” for the Cincinnati Arts Association, providing a wide variety of exciting Music Adventures. Her goal is to bring the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of music to children.
Previously, as a Teaching Artist for the Los Angeles Pacific Arts Center, she developed curriculum and taught music education in many LA schools. In 2009 she co-founded New Life Rhythms to provide opportunities for creativity, community, and wellness for all ages using a drum circle format.
Meyer is an Emmy nominated singer/songwriter, percussionist, recording artist, HealthRhythms trained drum circle facilitator, and music educator. She has three Emmy nominations in the Best Original Song category and has co-written more than 80 original songs for television. As vocalist/percussionist, she’s toured with Grammy winners Patti Austin, Peabo Bryson, Jeff Lorber, and Norman Brown in major venues around the country, including the Hollywood Bowl.
She currently appears as vocalist/percussionist in various Cincinnati area venues and shows and as guest percussionist for Virtuosos de Cámara chamber ensemble. Her original music is available online via Apple music, Spotify, YouTube, etc. For more info/performance dates: patsymeyer.com
Programs will be taught by Patsy Meyer or her daughter, Chelsea Davis. Chelsea is a multi-genre songwriter & jazz vocalist. She is a teaching artist for the Johnny Mercer Foundation, All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation, Cincinnati Arts Association, The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, and Carnegie. She has co-written more than 500 songs with children. Songs from her recording projects (Roseport, JØAN, and Empty Oceans) have been featured on Warner Brothers, CBS, MTV, Freeform, Apple, LA Theatre Works, NPR, and CMT. She is the co-composer/co-lyricist of an original musical about Marian Anderson, the African American opera singer who gave the first racially integrated concert in Washington D.C. She shares her love of music with children through songwriting, singing and percussion.
ARTZ SMARTZ MAGICAL MUSIC ADVENTURE WITH PATSY MEYER
Curriculum: Music, Dance, Language Arts, STEM, Cultural Connections, Social-Emotional Learning, Reading
This fun residency is based on content and characters from the award-winning books, “Christopher Kazoo and Bongo Boo” and “Secret of the Purple Stone,” winners of a Mom’s Choice Award and a Moonbeam Award. Students experience artistic and creative expression through a variety of percussion instruments, movement, music styles, singing and music games to introduce basic music concepts: loud/soft, fast/slow, steady beat, rhythm patterns, tempo, and pitch. Engaging, fun-filled classes that integrate cognitive, physical, social and emotional learning inside the framework of music.

PRESCHOOL & Kindergarten MUSIC ADVENTURE WITH MS. PATSY
Curriculum: Dance, Music, Lanuage Arts, Social Emotional Learning, Cultural Connections
Engaging, fun-filled classes that integrate learning and development inside a musical framework. Music and movement support language development, active listening, spatial awareness, numerical literacy, group process, and self-expression. Children will experience the joy of music by singing and playing various instruments, rhymes and finger-plays, small and large motor movement, dramatic play, and opportunities for creative self-expression. Basic music concepts include fast/slow, loud/soft, steady beat, singing melodies with and without words, stopping, and starting together. Patsy has a preschool teaching certificate and is a trained Music Together teacher since 2008.

DRUM CIRCLE ADVENTURE WITH PATSY MEYER
Curriculum: Music, Math, History, Social Emotional Learning, Language Arts, Science/Health, Cultural Connections
Patsy Meyer will enable your class to experience the art of drumming, creating community, working together within group process, and developing leadership skills. Students will learn about different types of drums and percussion, their timbres and origins and the ways to play them safely. Student led call and response will increase leadership skills and promote self-expression, creativity, self-esteem and respect for classmates. Using the rhythms of words, poems, phrases, and affirmations, we’ll create new rhythms to transfer to our drum.

WORLD PERCUSSION ADVENTURE WITH PATSY MEYER
Curriculum: Music, Dance, Geography, Cultural Connections, History, Math, Social Emotional Learning, Language Arts
Choose a one-day experience or a 4-6 day/week residency. This workshop gives your students a cultural journey playing various world percussion rhythms, singing in other languages, movement, participating in drum circles and group process with opportunities for creative self-expression, leadership skills, and artistic development. Music concepts are taught through world rhythm patterns, dynamics, pitch and group singing. This program integrates cross-curriculum learning in many areas.
