Bi-Okoto Drum & Dance Theatre

Wazobia Workshops (Come sing, dance, drum or create stories)

Enhance your students' creative thinking skills with a customized interdisciplinary workshop structured for small groups of 60 or less. You choose a curriculum theme or story, traditional or contemporary, and Bi-Okoto will incorporate it into a program that teaches a variety of African dance movements, drumming, song or stories that emphasizes call-and-response and social and cultural similarities and differences.

Length: 1 hour
Cost: $275 first session/$175 each additional
Supply Fee: $5 per student (drum workshops)
Limit No. Sessions: 4

Technical Needs

  • Artist Arrival: 30 minutes prior
  • Organization representative should meet the artists and show them to the presentation area.
  • The artist would like an organization representative to introduce them.
  • One adult or two students needed to assist with unloading equipment.
  • Audience participation: audience participates by singing, clapping and call-and-response.
  • There are Question and Answer opportunities during and following the presentation, included in running time.
  • Equipment needed by artist: 2 chairs, 1 microphone (wireless)
  • Large gathering space or classroom is suitable for this presentation.
  • Please have drinking water & juice provided for the artists.
