Wild Carrot
Our Roots Are Showing!
Learning Across the Curriculum through Songwriting & American Roots Music
Performance and owrkshops by Kennedy Center-trained artists, Wild
Carrot. The performance features a wide variety of American roots music
(from jazz and folk songs to show tunes and original material) and instruments (guitar, mandolin, dulcimer, concertina, banjo and penny whistle), and discusses the history and geography of the music and the
people behind it. Wild Carrot’s unique songwriting workshops allow teachers to
direct the subject matter of the song written in each class. The
artists guide your class to write, and record on CD, a song about any curriculum-based topic. A morning performance followed by up to three workshops is optimal for connecting with the studnet body an drelating to current standards.
