Shen Yun     Ohio Oriental Culture Association & Ohio Falun Dafa Association Presents:

Shen Yun

March 6, 2010
Cincinnati Music Hall

Profound. Sublime. Inspiring. That was the unequivocal response to last year's show. It's traditional Chinese culture as it was meant to be -- a study in grace, fluidity, balance, and inner strength. A program of nearly twenty masterful dances and songs brings Asia's celebrated past to life on stage. The vigorous drums of the 7th century Tang court will quicken your pulse, while the pastoral charm of inner Mongolian dance will delight your soul. Dozens of brilliant performers, coupled with an innovative full orchestra. Part of a 20 country world tour.

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a unique group of leading artists who share in a vision of cultural renewal. The company is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world's foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists. It also boasts the world's only full orchestra that embraces both Western and Chinese instruments as its permanent members.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is distinguished by its conscious effort to remain independent of China's communist regime, which has abused and impoverished the arts for decades. It is proud to thus include members who practice Falun Gong. The company aspires to create original performances that not only entertain, but also more deeply educate, enrich, and inspire. The company's rich repertory is drawn from the pages of history, universal themes, and the world around us. All choreography and music performed are original.

Music Hall was built in 1878 with private money raised from what is believed to be the nation's first matching grant fund drive. This showpiece of Cincinnati has been renovated and updated and includes what is judged to be among the best and most beautiful concert theaters in the world. The Springer Auditorium is known the world over for its extraordinary acoustics and its lavish old world decor. With its plush seating for 3,397, it serves as home for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Opera and the May Festival Chorus, among other local performing arts organizations. In addition, throughout the year it hosts a large number of touring performances, conferences, concerts and awards ceremonies. The fully-equipped stage with a complete lighting system, hydraulically-operated orchestra pit and roomy backstage area make any type of production or performance possible. The main foyer, where patrons have gathered during intermission for over a century can accommodate 250 to 500 people for cocktail parties, receptions, dinners and weddings.
