The History of the Blues will introduce students to the origins of the blues, including its important musicians, and how this style has affected every form of modern music. Kelly Richey is a renowned blues singer; her band, The Kelly Richey Band, has won a Cincinnati Enquirer CAMMY Award for Best Blues Band, and Cincinnati CityBeat’s designations of Best Musician and Best Band.

Available: Tuesday-Thursday
Recommended Ages: Grades 4-12
Length: 45-60 minutes
Cost: $450 first session/$350 each additional

Technical Needs

  • Artist Arrival: 30 minutes prior to presentation
  • Organization representative should meet the artist and show her to the presentation area.
  • One person needed to assist with unloading equipment.
  • The artist would like an organization representative to introduce her.
  • Audience participation: sing-along and Q&A session
  • There is a Question and Answer session during the presentation, included in running time.
  • Equipment needed by artist:
    • overhead projector and screen
    • electrical outlet
  • Classroom or large gathering space is suitable for this presentation.
  • Please have drinking water provided for the artist.
