Education & Community Programs

IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION!

As the region's premier promoter of the arts and entertainment, the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) promotes life-long engagement in the arts while contributing to individual, organizational, and community wellness. CAA's Education & Community Engagement Department cultivates diverse, inclusive, and accessible arts engagements, seeking to remove barriers preventing arts participation. Committed to a practice of antiracism, the Education and Community Engagement Department encourages the use of CAA venues, develops diverse arts supporters, and fosters an appreciation and understanding of diverse arts disciplines, while encouraging and supporting practicing arts educators and administrators, audiences, and aspiring artists.

What is our history?

Since its inception in 1995, the Cincinnati Arts Association's (CAA) Education and Community Programs have reached more than 1.9 million people.  A leader in the Cincinnati arts education community, our education and community engagement programs have been recognized by both the Ohio Arts Council and the Dana Foundation for exemplary service.

What is our vision, mission, and desired outcome?

The CAA Education and Community Engagement Department's Vision is to Inspire awareness that creativity is intrinsic and the arts are integral to human development. Our mission is to educate, inspire and serve the Cincinnati Region through engaging arts programs by infusing the arts into traditional and non-traditional settings.  We strive to empower our community to engage in the arts as an active part of social, educational, community, and individual healing and ongoing wellness.

What is our approach to arts education and community engagement?

CAA develops opportunities with our community to explore, discover, experience, and discuss the arts and related fields. Program design promotes inclusion, welcome, and belonging in the arts. They are supported by services that tear down participation barriers. Staff and teaching artists alike are trained in cultural humility and trauma-informed strategies to develop and implement programs with a benchmark of excellence, equity, and accessibility. CAA’s Education and Community Engagement department partners with education, social service, government, arts, and healthcare organizations to improve community well-being.

The Cincinnati Arts Association and its Education and Community Programs

are supported [in part] by the Ohio Arts Council, which receives support from the State of Ohio, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
