Brass Quintet Performance
The
Queen City Brass has entertained audiences throughout the country for
over 20 years. Select one of the following programs to entertain your
students while helping them understand your arts and humanities
curriculum:
- John Williams, Super-Composer!— Queen City Brass performs music by TV and movie soundtrack composers Lalo Schifrin (Mission Impossible), Monty Norman (James Bond Theme), Henry Mancini (Pink Panther), and selections from John Williams (Raiders, Jaws, Star Wars, Superman). Throughout the performance, they will discuss the elements of music that help to convey a variety of emotions such as excitement, happiness, grief and fear.
- Gershwin and All That Jazz— Queen City Brass performs a medley of music by George Gershwin and other jazz composers. They interspearse the performance with discussion of musical terms such as syncopation, improvisation and blues notes, and talk about he powerful influence of African and African American music on the jazz idiom.
Recommended Ages: Grades K-12

Technical Needs

Artist Arrival: 30 minutes prior to performance
- Organization representative should meet the artists and show them to the presentation area.
- The artists would like an organization representative to introduce them.
- Equipment needed by artists:
- 5 chairs
- 5 music stands (if not
available, let the artist know in advance)
- P.A. system with microphone.
- Large gathering space is suitable for this presentation.
- Please have drinking water provided for the artists.
