Arctic Express Visits Holy Family School

On December 18, 2009 the students of Holy Family School in Covington took a trip on the Arctic Express courtesy of BDAAC. The Arctic Express is a theatrical train ride through the winter holidays accompanied by conductor (and magician) David Hennig.

The program took students around the world to learn about different holiday celebrations including Diwali, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, Ramadan, Hannukah and, of course, Christmas. Mr. Hennig used magic tricks, stories and music to introduce these students to the ways different cultures celebrate during the winter season.

At the conclusion of the program students were treated to a holiday snack on their last day of school before winter break. Each year BDAAC selects a school with a diverse student population that also exhibits need to receive a program to help them celebrate the holidays. BDAAC's goal is to provide an artistic program of educational value to students who might otherwise not have access.

The students loved the show! It was a perfect way to learn something about other cultures and their holiday celebrations while beginning their own holiday as well. A big Thank You goes out to BDAAC for their support of these children!
